“By 2030, ensure that all girls and boys have access to quality early childhood development, care and pre-primary education so that they are ready for primary education”
Under Target 4.2, the global Indicator 4.2.1 encompasses the “proportion of children under 5 years of age who are developmentally on track in health, learning and psychosocial well-being”.
Measures which focus on early childhood development are available, but technical issues remain. Notably, there is no common definition of “developmentally on track” that applies to young children in all countries.
The experts in this Task Force are working on defining a common measure for the key outcome indicator for Target 4.2.
